Gentry Gourds

Dates for this year are Oct. 10 and 11. We are knee-deep in gourds and counting down the days!

I have a new gourd bird feeder design that is a huge hit with the birds at our place. I hope to have plenty on hand at the Feast. The theme this year is bird feeders and houses.

Plans are under way for some tent changes–we will be sleeping overnight this year. We will section off a part of the tent for sleeping quarters. New chairs are being made and I have cotton material for new table covers.

Kelly received a new shipment of gourds recently. Let the work begin!

Participated in the Bands Craft Show at Harrison High School today. This is a big show with over 100 booths with all kinds of crafts and art work. We displayed gourds, along with art prints and jewelry. There were lots of people coming through to see everyone’s wares.

Looking forward to next year’s show.

Another great day at the Feast of the Hunters Moon!

After we enjoyed the pancake breakfast, we watched

(and listened) to the artillery demonstration that was setup near our tent. It’s fun watching the spectators jump when the cannons go off.

One of our helpers received some hints on gourd burning (kind of like wood burning) with a lens.

It was all over way too soon, and we can’t wait until next year.

We had a great first day at the Feast of the Hunters Moon. With all of the great demonstrations nearby, there was plenty of foot traffic in our area of the park.

Our visitors enjoyed seeing the different techniques we use, and they asked many interesting questions. Hopefully, some were inspired to try their hand at gourd art.

It didn’t hurt that the weather was fabulous, and Sunday’s forecast calls for more of the same. Maybe we’ll see some of you out at the Fort.

Things are ramping up at the Feast of the Hunters Moon on Friday. Today saw many groups of fourth graders touring the site and watching demonstrations. By evening most of the merchants and the rest of the participants were on site setting up their tents and displays.

The weather is forecast to be perfect this year. Hope to see you there!
